Hi again! Melissa, your Diva from SavingCentsWithSense.net, is here again this week to discuss the price-matching wars this year! For those of you that hunted bargains last Black Friday, you know that Walmart and Target were competing for our business by offering price matching, but it seems that some new players have entered the ring this year.
Best Buy and Toys R Us have announced that they will be offering price matching this holiday season. Both have some important points and exclusions, so I wanted to go over them to help you navigate the price-matching wars.
Toys R Us Price Matching
You can check out the entire Toys R Us Price Matching Policy, but here are highlights:
Guidelines
- Valid for in-store purchases only and will include all competitor store advertised prices
- Items purchased must be identical to the items advertised in the ad (make sure you check the brand, size, color, or variety)
- You’ll need to provide the original complete competitor ad with valid dates at the time of purchase
- The price match will be given at the time of purchase or within 7 days of purchase date with a valid receipt.
Shopper’s Tip: Make sure you keep all your receipts from your holiday shopping this season. You never know when you might find a better price at another store!
Exclusions
- Black Friday prices will not be matched.
- They will not price match Buy One Get One free offers, door buster items, percentage off discounts, out-of-stock items, or competitor coupons.
- Offers of a free gift with a purchase will not be matched.
Best Buy Price Matching
If you are shopping electronics, then you’ll also want to check out Best Buy’s Price Matching because they will be price matching online stores, like Amazon.com. Here are some highlights for you:
- Best Buy will be price matching 20 specific online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and online outlets of Dell. Just be careful, because they won’t match third-party sellers on Amazon Marketplace or Ebay.
- You will need to ask for the online price match, and I recommend that you take in the ad with you (this is similar to the current policy).
- Price matching will NOT be valid from November 18 through November 26 (the end of Cyber Monday).
So, do these policies make you want to shop Toys R Us and Best Buy more? What are your experiences with price matching in years past?
