General Questions

When is Black Friday?

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. Check out our When Is Black Friday guide for Black Friday dates and predictions. Mark your calendars!

What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is the official start of the holiday shopping season. Traditionally, it is the day on which retailers begin to turn a profit, or are in the black. On Black Friday, a variety of products (electronics, apparel, toys, etc.) are available at their lowest prices of the year. Limited-quantity doorbusters draw crowds of shoppers to stores at special early hours. This year, many retailers are opening their doors on Thanksgiving night and online sales will begin as early as Thanksgiving morning. That means an extra day of shopportunities!

What is BlackFriday.com?

BlackFriday.com is the premier website to find information about Black Friday. The site was launched 2006 to help people better prepare for the biggest shopping day of the year. Since then, it has grown to become much more than a source for locating Black Friday ads.

BlackFriday.com provides:

  • Black Friday ads before they are released to the public
  • A wishlist and favorite stores feature to make planning your Black Friday shopping easier
  • Tips and guides to help make the most of your Black Friday
  • Live updates of online sales
  • Cyber Monday deals and more!

Is BlackFriday.com seasonal?

BlackFriday.com is more than a Black Friday shopping guide. We offer great deals from over 200 online stores, bargains, and coupon codes all year round. We are here to help you get more for your money every day - not just the day after Thanksgiving!

Why should I join BlackFriday.com?

How do I get started?

Getting started is easy! Just sign up and start planning and saving.

Can I get all of the Black Friday deals online or do I have to stand in line at the store?

Not all, but many - and there will even be some deals that are exclusively online. Every year, more and more retailers are bringing their Black Friday sales online in addition to a traditional in-store sale. Online-only retailers like Amazon.com will have deals you won’t see anywhere else, but because they are so easy to purchase (no standing in line!), they sell out very quickly. Your best bet is to wake up very early in the morning on Thanksgiving and shop before the items that you want are sold out.

Why do the prices you list not match with the store's website?

The sale prices that we list are only available in-store or online on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. When the products are available for sale at their Black Friday price, we will send out email alerts in addition to putting an alert next to each item so that you know that the item is in-stock and available to purchase.

When I add a deal to my wishlist, does it reserve it for me at the store?

Our wishlist feature is a great way to help you plan your Black Friday shopping and know exactly which items you want to buy. Unfortunately, we do not have agreements with merchants to reserve or hold items for you. However, using the list, you can easily focus on the deals that you are interested in. We constantly update your wishlist to show you which items are in stock and available to purchase online. For in-store purchases, you simply print out and bring the list with you to keep track of what to buy. Your wishlist can also be shared with friends and family so they can see what to get you this holiday season.

What are "early bird specials" or "doorbusters"?

Early bird specials or doorbusters are products that are only available during specific times, usually when a store opens very early in the morning on Black Friday or even on Thanksgiving. These are products that are worth waking up (or staying up) for, such as a $200 notebook computer or a $400 46" LCD HDTV. Most early bird specials are available in limited quantities and are limited to one per customer, so make sure you shop online or arrive to the store very early to get in on these deals before they sell out. Some online retailers rotate their specials each hour to encourage you to check back.

What is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday is the Monday after Black Friday. While the deals are typically not as good as what you will find on Black Friday, most merchants still offer some good sales. We will feature full coverage of Cyber Monday and bring you all of the deals throughout the day.

Ads and Deals Questions

Are the items on the ads available for purchase now?

BlackFriday.com has insiders that get a hold of the Black Friday ads before they are made available to the public. We share this information with you on our website to help you plan your Black Friday shopping adventure. Because these sales normally don’t begin until the day after Thanksgiving, the items in the Black Friday flyers are only available at the discounted prices on Black Friday. However, some items may be available online anytime with or without a discount. You can start adding products to your wishlist at any time so you can keep an eye on them.

Why am I redirected to the store instead of buying the item from BlackFriday.com?

BlackFriday.com does not sell products or participate in order fulfillment. Our website is a guide to finding the greatest deals on Black Friday and every day by combining deals, coupons, and online sales.

Can I pay for the items I want through BlackFriday.com?

BlackFriday.com does not sell products or participate in order fulfillment. We provide you with links to the stores that are selling products, where you can place your order and checkout securely directly through their site.
