Five Black Friday Myths

Have you heard of the Black Friday myths? These are the urban legends of shopping which make many people avoid this day like the plague. Below we will debunk a few of these, so you can get in on these deals and save yourself some money!

MYTH 1: I have to stand in line for hours to get get the best deal. If you want one of those coveted door buster deals, then you will need to do just that. However, if there are other things you want, you can still find them in your favorite stores, without pitching a tent in the parking lot.

MTYH 2: The only deals are those in the ads. Many times retailers will slash prices to just stay competitive. This means that you may find deals which are not advertised in print, but are the same as a competitor (which can save you time and money).

MYTH 3: I have to go to the store to get the deals. Most retailers will offer the same deals online as they are offering in their brick and mortar stores. The only items which may not be available are those which specifically states in-store. You also may not find many doorbusters available online. However, you can often get your order shipped for free, which can be better than getting out and shopping at the stores.

MYTH 4: All Black Friday Deals are only on Black Friday. Most stores now begin offering deals the Sunday before Black Friday. This means, if you pay attention, you might find some great deals online or in the stores -- which may include items which are not going to be on sale on Black Friday.

MYTH 5: Shopping on Black Friday Is Dangerous. Most shoppers actually are very pleasant on Black Friday. There are a few who may push and shove, the majority are excited to be in the stores shopping. When you shop on Black Friday and are standing in line, you really can feel a sense of camaraderie.

Now you know that Black Friday is not  day to fear, but to embrace and enjoy.  Do you have any of your own Black Friday myths?

I don't have anything to add but will definitely second your "Shopping on Black Friday is Dangerous" myth. I have only had 2 bad experiences in 10 years, and both of those have been just people cutting in line. In each of those experiences, everyone around them called them out on it, because that's just not how the traditional 'black friday shoppers' roll. Everyone is typically very very nice.
