Thanksgiving – it’s a wonderful time to be grateful for all we have, all the prosperity and abundance that has come our way in the past year. In the days after Thanksgiving, the focus changes a little bit. Thanksgiving sales are when we get to buy more things to be grateful for, often at prices that make our abundance go far.
A Growing Trend
After Thanksgiving Day sales are a venerable holiday tradition -one that gets bigger every year. As soon as the turkey has gone to soup and the relatives have left, the online shopping begins. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is the single biggest shopping day of the year. Any store who ignores Black Friday deals and early opening hours misses out on hordes of hungry shoppers and a booming start to the holiday season. Any bargain hunter who sleeps through Black Friday loses a chance to pick up incredible deals on everything from computers to sporting goods to designer clothes and handbags.
Everybody’s Doing Thanksgiving Sales
Any store with a recognizable name is open for business on the day after Thanksgiving. If the retailer has a mall presence they will be bending over backwards to outdo each other on all types of brand name goods.
High end fashion has joined the Thanksgiving sale fun in recent years, too. Delights from Macy’s, JC Penney, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus joins offerings from Gucci and Armani in offering discounts and deals that bring the big name goods down to low, low prices. Black Friday and after Thanksgiving Day sales are an ideal time to pick up real surprises for everybody on the holiday gift list – and maybe have a bauble or two left over for yourself.
Not Just Friday
Retailers didn’t want the fun to end, and neither did shoppers -so a whole new shopping vista opened up with the online Thanksgiving sale craze growing into Cyber Monday. That’s the day when those who didn’t get to the crowds and bustle of Black Friday sales can find amazing discounts, Deals of the Day specials, and online coupons through the many stores with an online presence. This doesn’t just mean Amazon.com – almost every major store now has a complete online version, including special sales you can’t find anywhere else.
Thanksgiving Sales Rule
So after the day of rest, after the big family time and the contemplation of the good things life has given you, the after Thanksgiving Day sales give you the perfect opportunity to go out and add a few more good things to the list. It’s kind of like the retailers giving us all an early Christmas Shopping present. Sounds like one more thing to be thankful for.
