The Xbox One launched in 2013 as the follow up to the Xbox 360. After launching to a rocky start, due in part to the high cost, Microsoft removed the Kinect accessory from the product packaging and remodeled the Xbox One into a new, thinner, more streamlined model, the Xbox One S.
Xbox One S (Reg. price $299): The Xbox One S features a slightly thinner size, HDR and 4K video capabilities. The console can also upscale 1080p games to 4k.
One very important distinction about the Xbox One S is that while it does play video in 4k, it can only upscale games to 4k rather than play them natively in 4k. If you are specifically looking for a console that can handle 4k native gaming, you’ll need to purchase the Xbox One X instead.

Games can be purchased both digitally via Xbox Live and physically in store. Also available to Xbox users is the newest gaming service Game Pass, which functions like Netflix, giving users unlimited monthly access to a collection of over 100 Xbox One titles.

The Xbox wireless controller currently retails for $59.99 at full price. It's compatible with the Xbox One X, Xbox One S, Xbox One and Windows 10. In addition to the console itself, you might find stand-alone Black Friday discounts on the Xbox One S controller at various retailers.

The Xbox One S has been bundled in a variety of ways over the last two years, offering a multitude of package savings. Most packages come with one to two games, an extra controller, and subscriptions to Xbox Live and/or Game Pass. Last year, for example, we saw the Xbox One S 1TB Star Wars Jedi Bundle for $199 ($100 off) at Walmart, GameStop and Kohl's.
