Google first launched its Pixel 4 line (Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL) in October 2019 and followed it up with the Google Pixel 4a in August 2020. Here's a rundown on the cost and specs of each model:
-
Pixel 4 (from $799): 5.7-inch screen; wireless charging; 64 GB or 128 GB storage; extensive camera features (group selfie, night sight, super res zoom and more); water resistance.
-
Pixel 4 XL (from $899): 6.3-inch screen; fast wireless charging; 64 GB or 128 GB storage; extensive camera features (group selfie, night sight, super res zoom, top shot and more); water resistance.
-
Pixel 4a (from $349): 5.8-inch screen; 128 GB storage; comprehensive camera features (night sight, top shot, super res zoom, others).
Note that Google has officially discontinued the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL. However, these phones are still carried by some retailers, so we might see some Black Friday deals on them. This discontinuation is likely to make way for the Pixel 5 line.
Which Pixel 4 phone you should buy depends on your requirements and your budget. The 4a (like the 3a before it) offers a more budget-friendly Google Pixel 4 option. However, you will be sacrificing functionality, camera features, wireless charging and water-proofing. PCMag gives the Google Pixel 4a a rating of 4 out of 5.
Google Pixel 4 Black Friday deals
As with most smartphone deals, the best place to look is at big-box retailers, such as Target, Walmart and Best Buy. All these retailers are known for offering kickbacks with phone purchase and activation, whether it's in the form of "refunds" via statement credits or store gift cards. In past years, we've seen Target and Walmart offer several hundred dollars worth of gift cards with various Google Pixel phones. Stores are known for offering better deals for previous-generation phones (compared to the vary newest phones) -- so Google Pixel 4 phones should be a Black Friday 2020 sweet spot (with the Pixel 5 on the market).
We'll be updating our site with the latest Google Pixel 4 Black Friday deals as they're announced.
