Black Friday is a shopping marathon, and you need to train hard to be in top form on the big day. In 2010, 212 million shoppers participated in Black Friday. That’s a lot of competition in the parking lots and in the stores! The busiest retailers on Black Friday include Amazon, Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, Kmart, JC Penney, Sears, Best Buy, Toys R Us, and Lowe’s. If you want to get doorbusters or deals from the most popular retailers on Black Friday, you need to arrive incredibly early and be prepared to wait in line with a mob of other shoppers (unless you opt for shopping from home in your PJs, of course)!
here have been a few of the Stack the Sales from Kohl’s in the past…basically it’s a combo of a number of offers. This Stack the Savings sale runs from October 21st to the 31st. One of the things that caught our eye: Kohl’s Cash. It’s the same deal they’ve offered during previous sales and on Black Friday: $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend (through 10/26).
For many Americans and almost all New Yorkers, one of the staples of Thanksgiving Day is waking up at a semi-reasonable hour to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, an annual event wherein people gather to march down the streets of New York City from Central Park West to Herald Square accompanied by massive balloons, elaborately decorated floats, and the deafening sounds of holiday camaraderie. Started by immigrants in the 1920s who wanted to celebrate their newfound American heritage and emulate the festive gatherings of their ancestors in Europe, the parade has become an annual tradition, complete with a live television broadcast, musical acts, performances by Broadway players, and millions of New Yorkers and out-of-towners celebrating the season.
Fry’s approaches Black Friday in a way that is much different from other big name retailers. For most stores, Black Friday advertisements, known as circulars, are planned out and printed weeks in advance. Once completed, they are sent to all the stores and newspapers in the country so they can be inserted into the Thanksgiving Day edition of the paper. It’s a fairly involved task, and one littered with consequences.
Much like someone leaking the newest album of your favorite band, having loose flyers printed weeks before the actual date of the sale results in the entire advertisement being leaked online. There are numerous websites devoted to showcasing leaked ads, and the big Thanksgiving Day reveal of all the major chains’ deals is ruined for the stores. In some instances, retailers have attempted to have the ads removed, but this rarely works. As a result, it’s incredibly easy to find major deals before their targeted release date. Fry’s Electronics, on the other hand, is conspicuously absent from most Black Friday websites. Find out why...

There was a great deal of speculation around Apple’s big announcement today. They held the “Let’s talk iPhone“event in Cupertino, California, and everyone wanted to know: would they announce the iPhone 5? Nope, that didn’t happen. Instead, Apple is calling this release the 4S.
The iPhone 4S will look just like the 4 with an A5 chip that contains an Apple designed image processor to speed up apps and games. Some of the other features: a camera with an 8 MP sensor, allowing you to take photos that are 3264 by 2448. It can take 1080p HD video with real-time video image stabilization and stream photos and videos straight to your Apple TV setup.

Retailers are always looking for an excuse to kick Christmas off early, and with the fragile economy hitting shop owners hard, having a good Christmas season is even more important than ever.

Dubbed “Cyber Monday”, it is a phenomenon that originated in the USA and is said to be one of the busiest online shopping days of the year, with people seeing it as the natural start of the holiday shopping season. In the USA this timing is based on the fact that it comes on the first Monday after Thanksgiving, the traditional start of the holiday season.

Shopping on Black Friday can be very stressful, from scouring the circular ads and setting the game plan to rising well before the sun does and braving the crowds to snag those elusive deals you’ve set your sights on. But you can make things a lot easier on yourself; although there are probably plenty of people on your list whose dream gift is the newest video game system or digital camera (that you can get half price before 6:00 AM), I’ll bet there are a few people on your list who don’t need more “stuff.” So what do you get those people who either don’t crave more possessions or already have everything? Rather than another object to clutter their lives, give them an experience: the gift of live theatre. Seeing a play or musical live is an event that entertains and sends audiences on an emotional ride, creating memories that last a lifetime.

We’ve all seen the muumuu-like tent-dresses and acid-washed jeans with the stretchy waistband; it’s enough to give a fashion-forward mother-to-be nightmares.
