Black Friday is approaching fast, and we’re getting pretty excited. We know everyone is wondering when the first Black Friday ads will be released. Take a look at the chart of ad release dates from retailers in 2011. Chances are, dates will be similar this year, but who knows! 

One of the most effective ways to increase the amount of money you have in the bank and to avoid running into debt is quite simply to spend less. Of course earning more would be nice too, but that’s often out of our control. Sending less on the other hand though is something you have complete control over and can choose to do very easily – at least in theory.

The problem is though of course that many of us are not really in control of our actions. While we might be able to basically decide whether we raise our hand or lower it, when it comes to bigger decisions we are often a slave to our emotions – and actually we often do not control those.

And this becomes a problem in many areas of our lives particularly when it comes to things like spending money.

The iPad has certainly had a spotlight on it the past week and is certainly battling 3D HDTVs for doorbuster deal hype come Black Friday later this year.

We’ve been watching the iPad news closely and wanted to share a round-up of the best coverage we’ve seen thus far.

Through the years the term "black friday" has had many different meanings. There have been movies and songs called Black Friday.

It has been used for any number of events people see as negative which happened on a friday from the stock market crash in 1929 to a crack down on online gambling sites in 2010. Most of us though associate it with the day retailers offer amazing deals to kick off the holiday shopping season.

Since Black Friday is obviously over for 2011 here's a quick list of when Black Friday falls over the next few years. Black Friday moves around according to the same schedule as Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. Black Friday always follows Thanksgiving Day, although in recent years, some retailers have begun pushing the online portion and even their in-store openings into the evening of Thanksgiving Day itself. So whether you want to start planning early (though it's even a little early for us) or if you just want to know. Here's a list of when Black Friday falls for the next several years.

Black Friday 2012 is on Friday, November 23rd.

Black Friday 2013 is on Friday, November 29th.

Black Friday 2014 is on Friday, November 28th.

Black Friday 2015 is on Friday, November 27th.

“Penny auction sites aren’t like normal Internet auctions,” says technology expert, Sarah McDaniels. “Consumers should know that they can lose their money at these sites, whether they win an actual auction or not.”

According to McDaniels, auction sites like SkoreIt, Beezid and QuiBids require consumers to buy so-called bidpacks that provide them a set number of bids. When competing for an item, they must use a bid from their pack. Each time they do so, time is added to the auction, and the price ascends by a few cents.

“What most consumers don’t know is that they will lose all of their bids, regardless of who wins the auction,” McDaniels says. “So these penny auction sites make most of their money off of failed bidders and not off the actual merchandise they are selling at auction.”
